Senior IP Litigation Paralegal

Our client is a prominent international law firm with a well-established intellectual property litigation practice. The firm represents clients in high-stakes, complex patent disputes across federal district courts, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:

  • Provides case management for patent litigation in federal district courts, appeals before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and actions before the U.S. International Trade Commission and Patent Trial and Appeal Board
  • Manages the paper and electronic discovery process across all phases of discovery and trial preparation, including coordination of electronic and paper discovery, patent file histories, depositions, transcripts, and trial support for large-scale productions and reviews
  • Prepares for and attends depositions and trial, including coordinating logistics and preparing witness files and exhibits
  • Works with litigation support and e-discovery teams and outside vendors on electronic productions, including assisting with the creation and management of electronic databases, loading, culling, searching, reviewing, tagging, coding, and generating productions and privilege logs
  • Drafts certain motions and pleadings
  • Cite-checks (Bluebook), proofreads, and assembles exhibits related to filings
  • Electronically files briefs or coordinates filing with the firm's Managing Clerk or other designated filing personnel
  • Coordinates service of process and courtesy copies
  • Trains and mentors junior paralegals


BACKGROUND PROFILE:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of IP litigation experience, including helping manage and supervise all facets of litigating Section 337 matters before the U.S. International Trade Commission
  • High level of proficiency with litigation support software and review platforms
  • Experience with USPTO inter partes review and re-examination proceedings
  • Proficient in electronic filings using the CM/ECF system
  • Willingness and flexibility to work overtime, occasionally on short notice
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and track extensive details
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients and personnel at all levels, and to handle confidential information sensitively and discreetly
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating initiative, diplomacy, and tact under pressure
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite; advanced knowledge of Excel preferred
