Senior Conflicts Analyst (New Business)

THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:
- Analyze and process all conflicts requests, including complex and high-volume/bulk matters, to confirm that firm engagements and hires are clear from a business and ethical perspective
- Prepare database search terms and generate conflicts reports for related parties across all incoming requests
- Conduct corporate research to confirm the identity of parties associated with each request and flag potential conflicts or high-profile issues
- Review and analyze conflicts reports and supporting documentation to identify existing and potential conflicts
- Interpret database results and conflicts reports for partners, counsel, attorneys, and business professionals
- Prepare clear, comprehensive summaries of the prospective conflicts landscape based on applicable rules of professional conduct
- Communicate directly with partners and attorneys, via email and phone, to investigate issues and propose resolutions
- Provide regular status updates to responsible attorneys and other stakeholders throughout the clearance process
- Maintain detailed conflicts resolution notes and documentation for each request
- Request waivers where consent is required and confirm that all conflicts have been resolved
- Draft conflict waivers and engagement letters as needed
- Advise attorneys and counsel on special circumstances involving complicated requests
- Draft and implement ethical screens as necessary
- Monitor current legal and ethics trends; conduct conflicts-related case law and legal ethics research
- Provide conflicts training to secretaries, paralegals, attorneys, and business professionals as needed
BACKGROUND PROFILE:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in a law firm, legal environment, or conflicts department, including 3+ years focused on conflicts or legal intake
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and conflicts/business-intake database systems
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the proven ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage an elevated scope of responsibility
- Working knowledge of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and applicable state bar rules of professional conduct
- General understanding of corporate law practice and the ability to conduct legal and corporate research
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable communicating professionally with attorneys and firm leadership
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive matters while upholding legal and ethical standards
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; availability to work extended hours, including weekends, as required
- Bachelor’s degree; JD a plus (preferred)
- Experience with end-to-end conflicts resolution (preferred)
- Paralegal certificate, or completion of an ethics course in a paralegal program (preferred)
- Prior experience as a paralegal or legal researcher in a law firm (preferred)
