THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:

• Prepare and draft patent applications covering pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, chemical compounds, formulations, materials science, diagnostics, polymers, and other life sciences technologies
• Respond to office actions and communicate directly with patent examiners before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
• Conduct prior art searches and analyze the patentability of new chemical and biological inventions
• Support freedom-to-operate reviews and contribute to broader patent portfolio strategy
• Review scientific data and translate complex discoveries into clear, strategically sound patent applications
• Collaborate closely with inventors, R&D teams, patent attorneys, and business development colleagues throughout the patent lifecycle

BACKGROUND PROFILE:

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline
• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Agent (or eligible and in process)
• Strong technical grounding in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, chemical compounds, formulations, materials science, diagnostics, or polymers
• Experience drafting patent applications, responding to office actions, and conducting prior art and patentability analyses
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex science for both technical and legal audiences
• Comfortable working closely with inventors, attorneys, and cross-functional teams in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
