THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the American Bar Association (ABA) Model Rules of Professional Conduct as adopted in each state in which the firm maintains an office, along with jurisdictional differences across all states, countries, and practice areas in which the firm conducts business
  • Monitor ABA and jurisdictional rule changes and recommend corresponding modifications to firm policy for approval
  • Analyze and resolve conflicts of interest related to new business and new hires
  • Work effectively with Managers, Directors, Conflict Analysts, and firm attorneys to gather the relevant information needed to make determinations on conflict issues
  • Draft and review ethical screens, conflict waivers, and risk management engagement letter provisions
  • Assist with administering the firm's client engagement terms program, including review and coding of outside counsel guidelines
  • Conduct research projects relating to conflicts of interest issues, including advanced-level research on corporate affiliations and corporate relatedness


BACKGROUND PROFILE:

  • J.D. degree
  • Active member in good standing (or registered in-house counsel) of the bar(s) in all jurisdictions where you regularly work, as well as the jurisdiction where your assigned office is located, if applicable
  • 3+ years of conflicts resolution experience, or 5+ years as a practicing attorney, preferably with a large law firm
  • Legal ethics and conflicts experience preferred
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, iManage, and other standard legal practice applications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams, offices, and diverse groups
  • Well organized, efficient, and committed to consistently high-quality work product, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Willingness to travel and to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
